GENERAL GOALS

  • To implement the general goals of the Board of Education and actively keep those goals meaningful.
  • To encourage all students to strive for both academic and personal excellence.

EDUCATIONAL GOALS

  • To establish a positive learning atmosphere which fosters both individual and collaborative learning experiences where students can learn to respect themselves and others.
  • To offer a broad based curriculum which allows students to explore a variety of educational experiences.
  • To offer a curriculum whereby students may acquire the basic skills of reading, mathematics, and oral and written communication within their individual abilities to succeed.
  • To achieve academic standards at high levels.
  • To help students understand the importance of an education as related to various careers.

INTERPERSONAL/PERSONAL GOALS

  • To promote the concept that self-control and self-discipline are necessary and should be practiced in our democratic society through maintenance of our code of conduct.
  • To promote a positive school atmosphere which recognizes the individual as well as the group, and encourages all students and school personnel to accept responsibility for their actions.
  • To provide students with experiences that will lead them toward a healthy and realistic view of themselves and enhance their abilities to determine their own values and attitudes.
  • To give students opportunities to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills necessary for accomplishing tasks and fulfilling personal ambitions.
  • To help students learn attitudes and habits that will promote a clear sense of personal and interpersonal responsibility.
  • To experience the pride and accomplishment that results from hard work and persistence. (State of Connecticut COMMON CORE OF LEARNING).

 CIVIC GOALS

  • To help students understand their role in society and particularly their role within the peer group.
  • To provide students with materials, resources, and experiences that will allow them to become contributing and responsible citizens.
  • To provide students with information, materials, and experiences that will develop their understanding and respect for our society’s cultural diversity and divergent viewpoints.

COMMUNICATION GOALS

  • To build an awareness of the physical, emotional, and educational needs of all students.
  • To maintain the cooperation of all staff members thereby allowing students to reach their fullest potential.
  • To maintain effective communication among students, teachers, administrators, and parents/guardians.
  • To maintain positive communication between the school and the community.
