PROMOTION - GRADUATION POLICY
Promotion to grade eight and nine is contingent upon academic achievement and regular attendance. A student will not be promoted to the next grade if:
• The student fails two or more major subjects; or
• The student is absent more than 15 days and absences are unexcused.
Students in Grade 8 who fail two (2) or more subjects for the year will not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony.
Students promoted to 9th grade are entitled to full access to the vocational technical programs at Warren F. Kaynor TVTS and the vocational agricultural program at Nonnewaug High School. Swift school counselors may be contacted for further information about these programs.
