7TH GRADE GEOGRAPHY

Mr. Nappi: Yellow Team

nappijo@watertownctschools.org

The primary purpose of social studies is to give students a knowledge and appreciation of our world. Social studies seeks to instill tolerance and respect for the opinion of others and to develop productive American citizens. Through an understanding of the five themes of geography, students will learn about human behaviors and issues around the world. The five themes of geography are:

1. Location (absolute and relative, where it is)

2. Place (physical and cultural aspects, what it looks like)

3. Human environmental interaction (how people change the landscape)

4. Movement (the movement of goods, people, and ideas)

5. Region (areas of similar characteristics)
