                 Mrs. Gallo's English Page

This web site will give an overview of the weekly homework assignments.
However, the students should never use this as a replacement for their
agendas due to the fact that this page may not always be up to date.

Please check your child's agenda periodically. You will get to see where
he/she travels during the day. Also, I may jot a note to you in the agenda
       at times.
Please remind your child to come to class prepared with all necessary

materials. These materials include their covered  textbook, binder or notebook
for taking notes, white lined paper, personal reading book, blue or black pen,
and a red pen or pencil. All homework and classwork is to be done in blue or
black ink. Pencil or colored inks are not acceptable. Grades are based on
homework, quizzes, tests, and class participation. Any work missed due to an
absence must be made up. Any child who wants extra help should sign up
on the "HELP" clipboard in the classroom. As always if you have any questions
or concerns  please call the school at 860-945-4830 or email me at the following:

Just a reminder for all students... vocabulary/spelling assignments are
due every Wednesday and Friday and includes a test on Friday. Students are
expected to complete all assignments neatly and in ink with the proper
heading on top. A pleasure reading book should be with them for each class.

The seventh graders are working on subject/verb agreement
and pronoun/antecedent agreement. As always, editing/revising
practice continues. They will begin reading The Cay very soon.

The eighth graders in period C and J are finishing the novel
My Brother Sam is Dead. We will be finishing up our packets
with comprehension questions and other activities. Period I grade 8
continue to work on subject/verb agreement and pronoun/antecedent
agreement. Agreement is a very important skill for writing and is
tested on the CMT. Once we have completed these skills, they will begin
to read My Brother Sam is Dead.
