The members of the Navy team recommend the following strategies to help our students succeed:

Organization

Students should:

• Record homework assignments DAILY in the Student Agenda.
• Record long-term projects in the Student Agenda when they are assigned.
• Record reminders for long-term projects each week until the assignment is complete
• 'Chunk' steps needed to complete long-term projects.

Parents should:

• Check agendas for support and for notes from the teachers.

Study Skills

Students should:

• Attend study sessions for science and social studies when offered.
• Review daily classroom notes every night.
• Re-read the chapter to be tested, prior to the test.
• Focus on and review key vocabulary words.
• Use or make an outline, Venn diagram, timeline or other type of graphic organizer to outline complex material.
• Use a study buddy to 'test' each other prior to taking the test.

Extra Help

Students should:

• Seek extra help when needed. Teachers are available before and after school.
• Use study halls wisely and seek extra help if needed.
•
