C. Govertsen .. Special Education

Grade 8 - Evergreen Team

Second quarter already underway!  For anyone who may need extra help to improve his grade,

again, I am available most afternoons.  If a student needs help understanding something presented in any of their classes or help in preparing for upcoming tests, please contact me to schedule time if needed.

For those students who have me for reading or math, the following is an overview of our current focus in each.

Reading - We are engaging in a variety of reading activities.  Currently, we are reading a book about a group of boys and peer pressure.  It is presented in a humorous style and the students seem to look forward to it each day.  We are also working on CMT skills and taking related assessments.  When we finish the novel, we will be returning to our various reading activities, but that probably will not be for several weeks.

Math - We are currently working on required, school-wide assessments.  Next week, we will be working in two groups.  One will be focusing on 4-digit subtraction and the other will be beginning to solve addition equations.  Fridays, we are still devoting to catching up on late work and issues involving money.  We are working in groups adding various coins and will be making change for those who demonstrate mastery of the addition.
