Ms. Krafick
Reading

I'm pleased to be teaching at SWIFT Middle School!

*******

Please remind your child to adhere to SWIFT's

'Code of Conduct'

for a successful school year!

*******

Encourage your child to read independently or with you every day.

It is a nice way to end the evening together.

*******

Student's should be writing answers to all open-ended questions by writing a topic sentence, supporting answers with details from the selection, and including a strong ending sentence. (Ask your child to explain 'SLAMS' to you. A good answer 'SLAMS' the question!)

Student's have been answering a variety of questions after reading a selection. The necessary skills practiced are to access prior knowledge, summarize, identify text structures, draw conclusions, make inferences,  ask and answer questions, interpret implied information, recognize facts and opinions, identify main idea and theme, and use structural, context, or content clues to figure out the meaning of a word.
